Welcome to WickedWitch cats. My name is Anne Davies, and I am a breeder of British Shorthair cats with the GCCF prefix WickedWitch, based in the South West of the UK.
I have always loved cats, particularly Burmese and British Shorthair. I had my my first pedigree cat, a beautiful Chocolate Burmese in 1984. He was called Ethereal Septimus, Sam to us. Ethereal Sunny Jim came to live with us in 1985, and from there our cat family grew. In 1989 I met Anna Virtue (Hobberdy Burmese) who was kind enough to let us have a brown kitten, Hobberdy Henry Higgins. We became friends through Henry and it was Anna who introduced me to the show world.
I went to my first show in 1990 entering Henry and after that first show I was hooked. Anna drove me to many shows showing me the ropes. At one show I met Veldes Carnell (Misskin British Shorthair) and she said to me “Why don’t you think about breeding, then you can show cats under your own prefix?”.
She had planted the seed! I spoke to many breeders and read many books before making my decision to breed. It was always my dream to own a Britsh Shorthair and to breed them would be the icing on the cake. I applied and was granted my prefix Wickedwitch from the G.C.C.F. in the year 2000. I found a lovely blue cream girl Zoykyn Wickedwitch (Chloe), and she had her first litter of kittens in 2004. I also met Yve Crook (Mibaybese British Shorthair) who nursed me through my first litter, advising me on a daily basis. She has been a great support to me over the years, and for that I thank her. Without her guidance I wouldn’t be where I am today; she has become one of my closest friends.
I am a “hobby” breeder and pride myself in breeding healthy, sociable, contented and well-adjusted kittens that conform to the standard laid down for the Britsh Shorthair by the G.C.C.F.
